Jural
Intake coordinator on a phone call filling in a client intake form

Legal intake software that turns a new inquiry into an open matter

Jural gives each practice area its own intake form, collects the facts, parties and documents you need, and turns an accepted inquiry into a matter in one step. Every name on the intake feeds the conflict check automatically, so the attorney sees potential conflicts before the engagement letter goes out.

Intake forms that ask the right questions for the practice

A family law intake needs the other spouse, the children and existing orders. A personal injury intake needs the incident date, the insurer and the treating providers. An estate planning intake needs beneficiaries, fiduciaries and assets. Jural ships with intake templates per practice area and lets you edit every question, so staff stop working from a generic contact sheet.

  • Intake templates for common practice areas, editable by the firm
  • Fields for prospective client, adverse parties, related persons, entities and former names
  • Document upload on the intake (prior orders, police reports, contracts, wills)
  • Required fields and conditional questions, so the form only asks what applies
  • Internal intake by staff during a call, or a secure link you send to the prospective client

Every intake becomes structured matter data

Answers do not sit in a free-text note. Names go to the parties list, dates go to the matter record, uploaded documents go to the file, and Jural writes a short intake summary for the attorney: who the person is, what happened, what they want, and the key dates. When a document on the intake contains a deadline, such as a response date on a served complaint, Jural surfaces it right away for legal calendaring software review.

From first call to open matter step by step

  1. Staff choose the practice area and fill the intake during the call, or send the secure intake link
  2. Jural normalizes names and entities and runs the conflict search against clients, adverse parties and related names in the firm's records
  3. The intake summary and the conflict report appear together for the responsible attorney
  4. The attorney accepts, declines or asks for more information, and the decision is logged with the time and the person
  5. On acceptance Jural opens the matter with parties, documents, key dates and the assigned team
  6. The engagement letter can be drafted from the firm's own template with legal document automation software

Intake that feeds the conflict check

Conflict checks fail most often at the intake stage, when a related company or a maiden name never makes it into the search. Jural asks for related persons and entities on every intake and sends all of them to law firm conflict check software, with fuzzy matching on spelling variants. The attorney signs off on the conflict report before the matter opens.

What intake in Jural does not do

  • It does not accept or decline representation. The attorney decides and the decision is recorded.
  • It does not create an attorney client relationship by itself. Your engagement process and letter still govern that.
  • It does not give legal advice to the prospective client, and the intake link says so in plain words.
  • It does not replace your phone system or website. Jural receives what staff enter and what prospective clients submit through the secure link.

Who runs intake in Jural

Receptionists and intake coordinators use it during first calls. Paralegals use it to collect documents before the consult. Solo attorneys use the secure link so the prospective client fills the facts before the meeting and the hour is spent on strategy. Managing partners use the intake records to see which practice areas bring matters in and how many inquiries are declined because of conflicts.

Declined and pending inquiries

Not every intake becomes a matter. Declined inquiries keep their names in the firm's records for future conflict searches, with the reason and date of the decision. Pending inquiries show who is waiting for an answer, so nobody forgets to send a non-engagement letter.

Available on every plan

Client intake is included in Solo, Firm and Enterprise. On Firm and Enterprise the conflict check runs across the whole firm's records, and Enterprise adds custom roles and audit log export. Yearly billing is the default and saves 50 percent: $24, $49 and $99 per user per month. See ai legal assistant pricing.
